Cape Cod Wildlife Calling "Not your typical walk in the woods"
* Camouflage clothing will be supplied and must be worn by all participants, including over the face and hands. Participants who wear glasses may find that facemasks sometimes cause fogging; in such cases, an alternative will be provided. We use top of the line camouflage clothing, which affords us the best way to "become one with the surroundings". We use a mesh "leafy wear" 3d camo in warm weather to keep cool. *When approaching the calling area, all unnecessary noise must be kept to a minimum. *Once at a "stand", participants will be in touch via two-way radios. Through the use of the radios, we will be able to inform one another of approaching animals and/or birds. These radios are voice activated to the sensitivity of a whisper, so all you have to do is speak softly into the headset microphone. *Most importantly, find a comfortable position for yourself. Once the calling has begun any movement could "blow our cover". Unnecessary or quick movements may alert approaching animals and/or birds to our presence. We will be using decoys, and the calling sounds will be remote from our position, affording us a little distraction for slight movements, while turning our heads or raising a camera. When turning your head to scan your field of view, or raising your camera, do so slowly and deliberately. Most stands will last about 20 minutes, so make sure you are comfortable enough to remain still at least this long. More guidelines may be necessary for sessions involving certain target animals; These will be discussed on a case by case basis. |
